(PSC-IT 6.4/ISTE-E 6d) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To address Criterion 22, use the assignment developed in ITEC 7485 titledCreative Computing. [Upload the assignment to a cloud-based folder called ITEC 7485 as you will need it later in the ITEC program.] Criteria Focus
Creativity and creative thinking are part personal expression and critical for communication of ideas and knowledge and making meaningful connections between ideas.
This criteria focuses on how educators provide opportunities for their learners, including modeling it in our own practice. This includes instructional strategies and technologies that can support strategies.
Checklist Criteria
My artifact demonstrates my own creativity in designing opportunities for my learners to be creative with digital tools and technology.
My artifact provides evidence (direct showcasing and examples) of nurturing creativity for my learners with either peer feedback or showcasing the final product to an authentic audience.
Demonstrating Creativity
I showed students projects I had made using Scratch. These projects were fun and taught about Figurative Language. This gave students ideas and showed them what was possible. I also employed the use of demonstration of creating a Scratch project live. While I worked on this demonstration, students took notes on any beginning steps that I took to assist them in beginning their own.
Opportunities
During the project, I guided students and gave them support on what I expected as a product. I told them how important it was to be creative and try new things. I wanted them to feel confident in sharing their ideas. I prompted students to think outside the box in this project, and I guided them through this process utilizing a digital jam board of ideas.
Collaboration & Feedback
I let students try different things and come up with their own ideas. They could think outside the box and take risks. This way, they could express Figurative Language in their own unique ways. Throughout the project, students thought about what they had done and how well it showed Figurative Language. They could see what they were good at and what they could improve on.
I encouraged students to use different things like sounds, animations, and pictures in their projects. Like FabLabs, instead of giving strict rules, I gave students ideas to get them thinking. They could come up with their own ways to show Figurative Language. This way, they could be creative and think for themselves. Prior to completing the final project, we allowed students to view their peers' projects using the classroom drive with the Scratch links. The links hopefully allowed active feedback for students.
