Considering the learning objectives, assignments, and framework of this course, my professional learning goal is to become proficient in the use of artificial technology to improve student's written communication. Recognizing the importance of communication is something many students take for granted. Social media has heightened the need for effective communication in young learners and I aim to find the technical skills to aid in their development. Artificial Intelligence word processors are extremely helpful tools when utilized correctly. M8 - Weebly Blog - Final ReflectionThroughout the Creative Computing lesson, I strategically enacted the goal of becoming proficient in the use of artificial technology to enhance students' written communication skills. To achieve this, I carefully aligned the learning objectives, assignments, and framework of the course to focus on integrating artificial intelligence. I tasked students with creating narratives using Scratch, while also emphasizing the importance of clear and effective communication. By incorporating AI word processors into the drafting and editing process, students were able to receive real-time feedback on grammar, syntax, and clarity, enhancing their written communication skills.Furthermore, I provided guidance and instruction on how to leverage AI tools correctly to maximize their effectiveness. This included teaching students how to interpret and implement the feedback provided by AI word processors, as well as emphasizing the importance of critical thinking and revision in the writing process.
In this course, my goal addressed the ISTE Standard: Designer 2.5b --> Design authentic learning activities that align with content area standards and use digital tools and resources to maximize active, deep learning. As an educator, I value the utilization of technology to implement literature and related concepts. In a highly technological society, we have developed technology faster than we have developed our ability to comprehend information. The technology implementations outpace the development of reading and comprehension skills, which has created a large void in our society for synthesizing information on a foundational level. In implementing technology within a literature focused course, students are able to identify the relevance of technology within all disciplines. There is often a lack of continuity between reading/literature and technology. Through this course, I found several ways to combine any discipline with technology. As an educator, I will find an alternative technology to utilize in this exact assignment. I believe that there is another layer of difficulty in this assignment that could further challenge students. Some students in our school have experience working with code in outside resources. These prior skills could be leveraged to add more rigor. Amongst the other implementations, there are not many other things that I would change if I were to conduct the creative computing project again or design it again. Throughout the Creative Computing lesson, I strategically enacted the goal of becoming proficient in the use of artificial technology to enhance students' written communication skills.
